Abstract

PURPOSE:To display a high resolution and quality picture without distortion using simple structure by arranging a deflection electrode which deflects an electron beam in parallel to a linear electron source and forming the linear electron source with the deflection electrode which is a pair of vertical deflection electrodes that vertically deflect it. CONSTITUTION:A linear electron source 51 is arranged between the rear electrode 52 and an electron beam removal electrode 53. Relatively positive voltage is applied to the beam removal electrode 53 against the electron source 51 and linear electron beams are removed. The linear electron beams are simultaneously deflected vertically by means of a pair of vertical deflection electrodes 54 that are arranged in parallel to the electron source 51. Besides, the quantity of electron beam is controlled by means of an electron beam control electrode consisting of an electrode 55 that divides the linear beam into a number of them, an electrode 56 in which wires are arranged in parallel in a strip of fancy paper, and an electrode 57 which jointly perform horizontal focussing. These electron beams strike against an accelerating electrode surface 58 and a phosphor surface 59, emit light, and display a picture.
