Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate installation of a cassette on copier body and reduce the price of it by detecting paper empty and paper jamming by optical detecting means without a connector in a cassette apparatus capable of enclosing about one thousand of paper sheet at one time.
CONSTITUTION: A multi-sheet cassette apparatus includes a hinged cover 32 of a housing 3 provided with a feed roller 33 driven by a motor. The movement of the roller 33 forces the uppermost sheet to be put forward from a paper tray 40 lifted up by spring force of a lift spring 45 disposed in a paper enclosing portion 4 through lift arms 41, 42. A housing 3 is provided with a paper feed portion 6 projected in such a manner as to be engaged with a cassette loading portion of a copier body 1. The paper feed portion 6 is provided with a micro- switch 8 for stopping paper feed and a lamp 9. The above cassette loading portions is provided with optical detecting means comprising a lamp 10 and a photocell 11, thereby to detect paper jamming.
