PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a rotary electric machine without decreasing the cooling capacity by blowing cooling air to an AC exciter by utilizing the fan effect of a rotary rectifier installed in a common frame, thereby eliminating the necessity of an auxiliary cooling fan such as an axial flow fan or the like. CONSTITUTION:When an AC exciter 4 and a rotary rectifier 1 are installed on a common outer frame 6, the exciter 4 and the frame 9 are covered with an inner frame 8, and an L-shaped guide plate 11 is mounted in the frame 9 of the rectifier. Then, cooling wind is blown by utilizing the fan effect of the rectifier 1, thereby eliminating the exclusive cooling fan.
