Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a magnetization distribution of a toner by applying pattern signals with a magnetic head group placed opposite to toner on a donor member and to transfer the toner selectively onto transfer paper according to the pattern signals by utilizing said magnetization distribution. CONSTITUTION:A uniform toner layer 2a is formed by a doctor 4 on the surface of a donor roller 1, and negative electric charge is injected therein. In accordance with the rotation of the roller 1, the toner layer 2a is conveyed to a head group 5. On the other hand, the pattern signals from a controller 13 are applied to a recording electric power source 12, and pulse voltages are applied selectively to the coils of respective magnetic heads 7, by which the magnetization distribution of the toner corresponding to the pattern signals is obtained to the toner on the roller 1. On the other hand, transfer paper 20 is conveyed in the direction of an arrow A while sandwiched between a transfer roller 14 and the roller 1, and only the toner magnetized by the group 5 is transferred to the paper 20, whereby transfer is accomplished.
