Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent line pressure from excessively rising and reduce the ratio of consumption of engine output by an oil pump, by attaching an input oil pressure upper limit mechanism to a pressure control valve for increasing and decreasing the line pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A first pressure control valve 10 has a regulator plunger 134 comprising a large-diameter land 135 and a small-diameter land 136. Throttle pressure is applied to the land 136. Line pressure is applied to the other land 135 through oil passages 44, 14 when shifting to a range R is effected. The oil passage 14 is provided with an orifice 11 and fitted with a pressure limiting valve 12 which acts to perform draining from an oil drain passage 13 to prevent input line pressure from exceeding a set level when the pressure has reached the level. The input line pressure is thus limited to or below the upper level. This results in preventing output line pressure from excessively rising when the degree of opening of a throttle is within a high range.
