Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a joint reinforcement with almost the same outer diameter as that of an optical fiber, by bonding optical fibers through the removal of clad and melt-sticking the part removed of clad with a plastic sleeve with the same outer diameter as that of the clad. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 2 in which a clad of an optical fiber 1 having a clad is removed, is bonded at a joint A. Next, a plastic sleeve 3 in which the inner diameter is equal to the outer diameter of the optical fiber 2 and the outer diameter is equal to the outer diameter of the clad of the optical fiber 1 and a cut B is provided in lengthwise direction, is cut off to a length equal to the length of the clad removal part (l). After the cut B is spread out and loaded on the clad removal part, the cut B and a joint C between the sleeve 3 and the clad is melt-stuck with heating. Thus, the joint reinforced part with the same outer diameter as that of the optical fiber can be formed.
