Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the cooling efficiency by forming the cross-section of the liquid-cooled small chamber, intersecting normally to the axis of the piston, in a specific configuration. CONSTITUTION:Outer liquid-cooled small chambers 108 and inner liquid-cooled small chambers 107 are furnished inside a piston 100, and the cross-section of the piston, normally to its axis, is so formed that the ratio L/Bm (l/bm) will become no less than 2 in any case, where L(l) and Bm (bm) represent length of the line penetrating the center of the width in the circumferential direction and the mean width in the direction intersecting normally, respectively. Thereby, a stable and efficient flow of the cooling liquid can be obtained and the cooling efficiency of liquid-cooled piston can be enhanced.
