Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover a reduction in the amount of filtered water by a simple process by a method wherein a selectively permeable membrane provided with an activated layer of a polymer having special bonding units is treated with a lower aliphatic ketone or a lower aliphatic ester. CONSTITUTION:The selectively permeable membrane which is provided with the activated layer consisting essentially of a polymer having monomeric units containing the bond represented by the general formula (1) in a chain and has a selective permeablity developed mainly by the general formula (I) is treated with at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of lower aliphatic ketones and lower aliphatic esters or aqueous solution thereof.
