Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor high in acceptance potential, low in residual potential, and free from deterioration of repetition characteristics, by forming as a protective layer acridine or a compound having >=1 acridine skeletons in its molecular structure on a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective layer contains 1-40wt% acridine represented by the formulaI(R1, R2 being H, aliphatic substituent, halogen, or the like, R3 being H, aliphatic substituent, or the like) or a compound having in its molecular structure >=1 acridine skeletons represented by the formula II (R being H, aliphatic substituent, another substituent having acridine skeleton, or the like). A binder resin and, when needed, an electron acceptor in an amount of 0.01-2 moles per mole of said compound are added to the protective layer. This protective layer is transparent even when it is made thicker than conventional ones, it has 10<9>-10<12> ohm cm low resistivity, and can be used in a usual latent image formation process.
