Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cold-rolled polished steel strip having excellent surface behavior free of smearing by a method in which the atmosphere of annealing process from the rise of temperature to soaking is made oxidative in the early period, then made reductive in the next step, and further made weakly oxidative in the quenching process. CONSTITUTION:Cold-rolled steel strip coils 1 are stacked up in 2 to 5 stages in a batch furnace and then heated under a condition that air is confined in the furnace, while approx. 15m<3>/hr of air is supplied through a supply path 8 into an inner cover 5. When the temperature of the base reaches approx. 380 deg.C, the supply of air is stopped, a reductive gas composed 95.5% N2 and 4.5% H2, for example, is supplied into the furnace and the steel strip coils are held at a furnace wall temperature of 760-800 deg.C and a base temperature of 640-760 deg.C for 20-30hr for annealing. And, the steel strip coils 1 are cooled by supplying approx. 50ppm of an oxidative gas, e.g., pure oxygen, air, water vapor, manganese oxide, magnesium oxide, carbon dioxide, etc., through a supply path 9 in a temperature range of approx. 300 deg.C in the quenching process.
