Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain combustion at optimum, by dividing the degree of rapid combustion of an engine with a supercharger into a plurality of stages to gradually heighten the degree of opening of an exhaust gas recycle valve depending on the divided stages when the engine knocks.
CONSTITUTION: The intake and exhaust pasages 3, 4 of an internal combustion engine 2 with a supercharger 1 are connected to each other through a recycle passage 7' provided with an exhaust gas control valve 7. The engine 2 is equipped with a knock sensor 8 which detects the degree of rapid combustion and is connected to a control unit 14 through a judgement circuit 10 which divides the degree of rapid combustion into a plurality of stages. The output signals of a rotation and an intake quantity sensors 11, 13 are also entered into the unit 14 which controls an ignition regulator 16, a fuel feeder 15 and a valve regulator 17. The valve regulator 17 has a function for opening by plural stages in accordance with the judgement circuit 10 and another function for closing by divided sections of each stage in the case of nondetection of rapid combustion.
