Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, prepared by mixing a composition containing chlorinated isocyanuric acid, e.g. powder, essentially with carboxylmethyl cellulose in a specific proportion, and pressure molding the resultant mixture, and capable of showing the property of rapidly and finely disintegrating in water.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. composition containing powdery or granular chlorinated isocyanuric acid having a particle diameter of 20W1,400μ essentially is mixed with 0.05W10pts.wt. powdery carboxymethyl cellulose (abbreviated to CMC), having a particle diameter of 20W200μ, and the resultant mixture is then pressure molded by the usual pressure molding method. CMC having a polymerization degree of 50W1,000 and a substitution degree of 0.35W0.6 is used. The resultant pressure molded article is particularly useful for sterilizing and disinfecting water for swimming pools, and washing water for tableware. The resultant composition can be stored stably without the deterioration even in storage for a long term in an enclosed container.
