Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify processing and to improve a floating attitude, by a method wherein an air feed hole is bored at a given distance from a center of a subject thrust type air pad, pockets are formed centering around the center of the body and symmetrically to the air feed port, and the air feed hole and the pockets are connected through recesses.
CONSTITUTION: An air pad body 1 is attached to a floating object, and compressed air is fed through an air feed lateral hole 3. The compressed air, passing through the air feed hole 2, is fed to circular pockets 5, 9, and 10 through a circular pocket 4, a recess 6, recess-shaped pockets 7 and 8, and is jetted to air receiving member (not shown) to float up the air pad body 1 and a fixing member. This constitution approximately uniformalizes an air film pressure distribution in the circular pockets 4, 5, 9, and 10, and the recess-shaped pockets 7 and 8. As a result, the air pad body is floated up in a correct attitude. Additionally, the length of the air feed lateral hole 3 can be shortened and a single unit of the air feed hole 2 is enough to meet a demand, which results in simplifying a processing work.
