Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove water-soluble high-molecular substances with high efficiency, by adding tannin, tannic acid or a tannic- or tannic acid-contg. substance into water-soluble high-molecular substance-contg. waste water to coagulate and precipitate the high-molecular substances.
CONSTITUTION: 0.001W10% of tannin, tannic acid or a tannin- or tannic acid- contg. substance is added to waste water containing water-soluble high-molecular substances such as polyethylene glycol or polyvinyl alcohol to coagulate and precipitate the water-soluble high-molecular substances. The pH value of the water- soluble high-molecular substance-contg. waste water is preferably kept in an acid range, more preferably at 5 or lower. When the water-soluble high-molecular substances are coagulated, a known inorganic or organic flocculant may be conjunctly used to completely separate particles. Especially, the conjunct use of an Fe3+ ion- contg. substance is effective in enlarging the size of coagulated particles and enhancing their filtering property.
