Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the oil film on the titled ball bearing from breaking so as to prolong the life of the ball bearing and to improve the reiability, by subjecting the sliding surfaces of the ball bearing to a sand blast treatment, forming a phosphate film on the surfaces, and applying a solid lubricant thereon followed by drying. CONSTITUTION:The sliding surfaces of all parts constructing the thrust ball bearing 3, that is, the surfaces 14 of the inner and outer races 11, the surfaces 15 of the balls 12, and the contact surfaces 16 of the supports 13 are subjected to a sand blast treatment. Then, after being degreased, they are immersed in a phosphate bath to form a phosphate film, and then washed with water followed by drying by hot air. Then a solid lubricant powder such as molybdenum disulfide, graphite or the like dissolved in an organic solvent, is sprayed onto said surfaces 14-16. Immediately thereafter the parts 11-13 are put in a heat treatment oven where they are dried to complete the treatments. Thus, the solid lubricant is adhered in the dry film state on the sliding surfaces to attain the desired object.
