PURPOSE:To make it possible to wind an array winding coil, laminated in two or more layers, on a spool by providing a wedge supplying means, a wedge pusher furnished with a plurality of wedge guides and a plurality of projections, an intertooling furnished with an auxiliary plate as well as a winding means and holding means. CONSTITUTION:While a tooling blade 129 of the intertooling B suspends and holds a wedge guide 128 in a freely slidable manner, an auxiliary plate 111 is independently and slidingly arranged in the peripheral direction of the blade and paralleled therewith to constitute a piece of spool by matching two pieces of blades 129 and an auxiliary plate 111 at the time of winding and while a flyer is made to go up and down toward said spool to form an array winding coil on the spool, said spool is made to stand by in the state of holding the coil. At the time of insertion, immediately before the coil is inserted into the slot of stator core the auxiliary plate 111 is made to move toward the blade 129 to release the coil from the spool and insert the coil into the core slot.
