Abstract

PURPOSE: To insolubilize water soluble amine and to produce an adsorbent for org. materials such as humic acids in water by mixing the active carbon deposited with the water soluble amine with an amine crosslinking agent and heating the mixture at specific temps.
CONSTITUTION: The active carbon deposited with water soluble amine is used as an adsorbent for adsorbing away org. materials such as humic acids from the water contg. these. To this end, water soluble amine such as polyethylene amine is deposited at 5W15wt% on active carbon which is put together with a prescribed amt. of water into a flask. An amine crosslinking agent such as epichlorohydrine is added at 0.2W2mol to 1mol the water soluble amine and is heated for about 2hr at 40W100°C, whereby the water soluble amine is insolubilized. The active carbon deposited with the insolubilized amine has high adsorptive power for the humic acid in water. When the water removed of the humic acid is disinfected with chlorine for potable use, harmful materials such as chloroform are not formed.
