Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the quality of a recorded image, by a method wherein an ink doner sheet is temporarily separated from a recording paper and the feed of the sheet is stopped, when non-printing scanning lines succeed. CONSTITUTION:When an auxiliary scanning is conducted for one line in which the recording paper 7 is not printed, a driving circuit 37 deenergizes a solenoid coil 26 and starts to drive feed rolls 13, 14, whereby the ink doner sheet 22 and the recording paper 7 are brought into close contact with each other again and feed thereof is started in the space between character lines. Under this condition, when a discriminating circuit 32 receives a reception signal 31 including character codes, a character pattern generating circuit 34 generates character patterns for one line, the patterns are outputted as a video signal 38 for each scanning line constituting one line, are stored in a line buffer 39 and fed to a thermal head 3. Consequently, the thermal head 3 is driven for each line, and the transfer of ink from the ink doner sheet 2 to the recording paper 7 is performed line by line, resulting in printing.
