Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain stable strip passing property and uniform cooling characteristics of a metal strip by introducing the high temp. metal strip into a rotary cooling body group including a center shaft variable rotary cooling body adjustable to an optional angle against a pass line while said metal strip is passed therearound. CONSTITUTION:The metal strip 4 is successively cooled while passed around a rotary cooling body 2 and passed through a rotary cooling body group 5. In this case, a meandering amount from a center of a pass line at an inlet and an outlet sides of said rotary cooling group 5 is measured by a metal strip meandering amount detecting end 1. Then, the obtained information is transmitted to a drive apparatus of a rotary center tilting apparatus 3 to tilt the metal strip 4 and, thereby, said metal strip 4 is always positioned in the vicinity of a line center. As the result, the metal strip 4 can be contacted on a surface of the rotary cooling body 2 under a pressure uniform to a width direction of said surface and enhancement of material quality and defect formation and breakage prevention of the metal strip can be attained.
