Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer of good shape having a high crystallinity in high yield, by using a catalyst obtained by reacting a specific reduced solid with an electron donor and an electron acceptor, and then a polysiloxane, etc., incorporating the solid with an organoaluminum compound, and previously activating the mixture with a monomer, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A reduced solid prepared by reducing titanium tetrachloride with an organoaluminum compound is reacted with an electron donor, e.g. diisoamyl ether, and an electron acceptor, e.g. silicon tetrachloride, to give a solid product. The resultant solid product is then reacted with a polysiloxane or its mixture with an electron donor to afford a solid product, which is then combined with a dialkylaluminum halide and reacted with an α-olefin. A reaction product of a trialkylaluminum with an electron donor is then added to the resultant reaction product to give a previously activated catalyst. An α-olefin, e.g. propylene, is polymerized in the presence of the resultant previously activated catalyst.
