Abstract

PURPOSE: To inhibit the effusion of bubbles outside an ozone-reaction tower, by feeding water to be purified through a spray nozzle to perform defoaming action at an upper portion of the reaction tower.

CONSTITUTION: Ozonized air is introduced through an inlet 2, converted into bubbles having a few mm size by a diffuser pipe 5, and lifted inside an ozone-reaction tower 1 in contact with water 3 to be purified. The water 3 to be purified flowing through an inlet 4 is introduced through a conduit 4a into the reaction tower 1, and sprayed through a spray nozzle 4b. By the spray of the water to be purified, bubbles generated by ozone-aeration are eliminated. After the defoaming action, the water 1, and comes in countercurrent contact with the ozonized air to reduce its color and COD component, and then drained through an outlet line pipe 6 and an outlet 8. Unreacted ozone is discharged through an exhaust ozone outlet 9 outside the reaction tower 1. The bubbles are eliminated by the water to be purified. Ozone is introduced through a pipe 10 into a decomposition tower 13, where it is decomposed into oxygen by a decomposing agent 13a and released into the open air.
