Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled crosslinked polymer useful as a covering material, at normal temperature under normal pressure without requiring specific facilities, by reacting chlorosulfonated polyethylene with an amino group- or mercapto group- containing organic silane, followed by bringing the reaction product with water.
CONSTITUTION: Chlorosulfonated polyethylene is blended with an organic silane (e.g., 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane, etc.) containing at least one amino group or mercapto group using a two-roll mill, etc. at ≤100°C, preferably at 40W80°C, to give a crosslinkable silane graft polymer of chlorosulfonated polyethylene. This polymer is brought into contact with water directly or in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst (e.g., dibutyltin dilaurate, etc.), to give the desired crosslinked product.
