Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the blow off efficiency of the air conditioning apparatus having a fan and a heat exchanger in a casing and to reduce the overall thickness of the apparatus by a method wherein a centripetal flow type fan adopted to suck the air in the direction of the center of rotation thereof is used.
CONSTITUTION: The casing 17 for housing an air conditioner is formed of a front panel 16 and a rear paenl 15 and between these panels there is provided an air sucking grill which extends along nearly the entire inner surfaces of the panels. The front panel 16 is provided with an air blow-off grill 18 attached with a plurality of guide plates 19 adopted horizontally to blow off the air downwardly. Further, there is provided within the casing 17 the centripetal flow type fan 14 inclining somewhat downward. The centripetal flow type fan 14 comprises a runner 10 having a fan section 10a and rotatable through a motor 13 and guide vanes 11 and 12 arranged on the outer and the inner peripheries of the fan section 10a so as to generate a centripetal wind within the casing 17. The annular heat exchanger 2 is arranged on the air sucking side of such fan 14.
