Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of a pickup on the surface of hearth rolls in a hearth roll type heat treatment furnace, by blowing a high temperature inert gas against the surface of a steel belt to remove bodies adhering to it when continuously heat-treating the steel belt in the heat treatment furnace of hearth roll type.
CONSTITUTION: When the steel plate 1 is heated at 300W600°C in the hearth roll type heat treatment furnace, hydrogen gas-containing nitrogen gas having a pressure of 5W10kg/cm2 and heated to 300W600°C similar to the temperature of the steel plate 1 is blown against the surface of the steel belt 1 as a wiping gas from the slit 5 of a plurality of headers 4 installed in the furnace. The removal of rolling oils, iron powder, etc. adhering to the surface of the steel plate 1 eliminates the formation of a pickup on the surface of hearth rolls 3 and the formation of on the surface of the steel belt. As the wiping gas used in this process, an atmospheric gas in the furnace is drawn in from an intake vent 6 by a fan 9 and is filtered with a filter 8 to remove solid matter contained therein before it is circulated to the header 4 for reuse.
