Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce unbonding damage between rubber and the reinforcing cord of the tyre reinforcement by breaking up the element wires of the cord apart from each other at the bias cut end of the rubberized cloth containing nonextensible code.
CONSTITUTION: Twist of the cord end 3 is loosened at the bias cut end of the rubberized cloth 5 and element wires 2 are broken up apart from each other. By so doing, bonding between element wires 2 and rubber is improved and stress concentration at the cut end of the cord is effectively dispersed with a consequence that damage due to unbonding of the cord from rubber is reduced.
