Abstract
PURPOSE: To make process easy by press forming a roller body which is bossed at one end and is opened at the other end into one piece, and joining a bossed cap to the opening part.
CONSTITUTION: A roller body 1 is forged in such a way that a boss 1A is formed in one piece at one end. The other end part is worked in a manner as to permit easy joining of a cap 2. The cap 2 having a boss 2A in one piece is separately formed. Next, the cap 2 and the roller body 1 are joined by a method of rotating the cap 2 and pressure welding the same to the roller body and a joining means such as welding. Finally, the surface is shaped along the weld line W and this completes the roller.
