Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent misfire at a slow revolution speed, by providing a check valve at the branched part of each accessory intake passage to enable the intake in the branched part to flow only toward a main intake passage so that the return of exhaust due to the overlap of intake periods of plural cylinders is suppressed.
CONSTITUTION: Accessory intake passages 66, which are connected to each other, are provided in accessory intake pipes 60, accessory carburetor 62 and cylinder heads 14. The upstream gathered part 68 of the accessory intake passage 66 is connected to the atmosphere through an accessory throttle valve 70 in the accessory carburetor 62. The downstream branched part 72 of the passage 66 is opened through the cylinder head 14 into main intake passage 26 near the intake valve 20 of each cylinder. The branched part 72 is equipped with a check valve 84 which allows the intake in the part 72 to flow toward the main intake passage 26 but does not allow the intake to flow in the opposite direction. According to this constitution, the return of exhaust in slow operation is prevented from becoming excessive. This results in making it hard for misfire to occur.
