Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the effective cooling of an engine with its simple constitution, by forming two sets of oil passages provided along the axial direction of pistons in a cylinder block and connecting an oil pump, oil cooler and oil pan through the both oil passages.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder block 1 is divided into left and right cylinder block parts L, R by space 17 arranged with a chain for driving a cam shaft 14, then oil passages 18, 19 are formed respectively in each of these block parts L, R. A bottom end side of the oilpassage 18 is connected to the delivery side of an oil pump, while its top end side is connected to a top end side of the other oil passage 19 through an oil cooler 22. Then a bottom end side of the oil passage 19 is connected to the suction side of the oil pump through an oil pan to constitute an oil circulating circuit. In this constitution, the oil cooler can be connected to the oil passages by using a pipe or the like in shorter length simultaneously an engine can be effectively cooled.
