Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the evaporation of liquid helium in a torque tube by forming an adiabatic layer at the internal circumference surface of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive generator winding 2 is excited by a DC power source through a current lead 10 and a slip ring. The field winding 2 is cooled by liquid helium supplied from a helium guide mouthpiece provided at the shaft end of an antidriving side and the current lead 10 is cooled by the evaporating gas of the liquid helium cooled the field winding 2. And the current lead 10 helicoidally winds a string-shaped insulator 15 at the external circumference surface of a conductor 14 and is composed at the outside by inserting an SUS-made cylinder 16 formed an adiabatic layer 22 such as Teflon or the like, for example, at the internal circumference side. In this way, heat invading from the diameter and shaft directions can be isolated and the evaporation of the liquid helium in a torque tube 1 can be reduced.
