Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a double glazing having improved heat insulating property and soundproofing effects, etc. by engaging the peripheries of plural sheets of plate glass opposite to each other with grooves of a soft packing, bonding the sheets of the plate glass to the packing, and expelling the air from the gaps between the sheets of the plate glass.
CONSTITUTION: Two sheets of transparent plate glass 1 are faced to each other to insert thickness gauge 20 at suitable positions between the sheets of the plate glass 1. The periphery of each plate glass 1 is then engaged with a groove of a soft packing 2 and sealed gastight with an adhesive. A restorable soft sealing valve 6 is then sealed to plug a small hole previously opened in the outer one sheet of the plate glass 1. An injector needle is stuck through the sealing valve 6 to reach the tip of the injector needle to the gap between the sheets of the plate glass 1. The internal pressure of the gap is then reduced via the injector needle, and the injector needle is taken out of the sealing valve 6 to give the aimed double glazing. If the degree of vacuum is reduced in use, the vacuum is readily applied to the gap.
