Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain low dispersion optical glass with a high refractive index by adding a specified amount of B2O3, SiO2, La2O3, Yb2O3 and TaO5+WO3.
CONSTITUTION: This glass has a composition consisting of, by wt., 2W9.5% B2O3, 2W10.5% SiO2, 20W50% La2O3, 2W35% Yb2O3, 6W50% Ta2O5+WO3 (0W25% Ta2O5 and 0W50% WO3), 0W5% Al2O3, 0W12% GeO2, 0W25% Gd2O3+Y2O3, 0W10% TiO2, 0W8% ZrO2, 0W10% Nb2O5, 0W8% In2O3, 0W8% Bi2O3, 0W10% ZnO, 0W10% PbO and 0W10% B2O+SrO+CaO+MgO, and it has optical constants such as 1.82W1.99 refractive index and 27W45 Abbe's number. In case of >9.5% B2O3 and >10.5% SiO2 the desired refractive index is not attained, and in case of <2% B2O3 and <2% SiO2 no stable glass is obtd.
