Abstract

PURPOSE: To deposit metals in an electrolytic bath contg. specific metal salts and unavoidable metallic ions on the surface of a continuously annealed material and improve phosphophatability by subjecting said material to cathodic electrolysis treatment for a short time in said bath.
CONSTITUTION: A plate-steel plate or the like having undergone continuous annealing is subjected to cathodic electrolysis treatment in an electrolytic bath contg. metallic salts of one or more kinds among Ti, Mn, Ni, Co, Cu, Mo, W, etc. and one or more kinds among Fe, Zn, Pb, Al, Mg, Cr as unavoidable metallic ions. Thereby, the metals of the metallic salts are deposited discontinuously on the surface of the steel plate or the like in a 0.001W0.5g/m2 range. Since the production of phosphate crystal nuclei in the initial period of phosphate film formation is accomplished quickly by the local battery effect acting between the transition metallic deposits other than this deposited iron and the iron surface, the good phosphating is accomplished.
