Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thickness controller possible to be easily built in an AGC process, etc., and possible to control the thickness in both of the breadth direction and the rolling direction, by shifting one or more pairs of screw down devices making an angle against the vertical line, in their axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The screws 3-1, 3-2 make respectively an angle theta1, theta2 against the vertical center line XY of a mill housing 2. Accordingly, even if the rolling reaction of a rolling roll deviates from said center line XY of the mill housing 2, the reaction is born by either one of said screws 3-1, 3-2 so that a chock 6 of a backup roll 8 is not inclined. For the purpose of making the roll axes of an upper roll pair and a lower roll pair respectively comprising a backup roll 8 and a work roll 9, cross in a flat plane, the chock 6 is shifted to either the left or the right in the illustration showing the operation side. On the driving side, the shift of the chock 6 is reversed. Besides, the lower roll pair is shifted reversely to the upper roll pair.
