Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve firm and highly airtight cementation so as to permit substantial reduction in the thickness of glass braze layers by making combination use of an annular joint consisting of an easy-to-melt metal and glass braze and melting these on the surfaces intended for cementing.
CONSTITUTION: Pastelike glass braze 4 is coated on the intended cementing parts 1a, 2a of members 1, 2 to be cemented, and these parts are inserted to an annular joint 3 consisting of Al from both ends. If the joint 3 is heated with burners 5, the org. materials of the glass braze 4 are removed, and the braze 4 and the joint 3 melt. Then, the Al of the joint 3 is a thick film shape, and remains on the molten glass. The molten glass is an extremely laminar shape, and sticks by melting on the surfaces of the parts 1a, 2a. The excess glass braze runs off. Thereupon, when these are cooled, the Al and the glass braze solidify, and the Al is reformed to a new annular joint 6. The glass braze 4 forms a thin glass layer 7 between the parts 1a and 2a. Further, in the process of cooling down to ordinary temp., strong tightening stress is generated in the glass layer 7 by the shrinkage of the joint 6, whereby the cementing is strain-intensified.
