Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent twisting and cutting of fibers by passing pressurized air into the pulp fibers in a screw type dehydrating machine.
CONSTITUTION: Pulp fibers after digestion are charged into a hopper 11. The pulp fibers from the hopper 11 pass through a screw barrel 1 and gradually transfer to a discharge part 6. On the other hand, air is fed by pressure into the hollow part 5 of a screw shaft 4 through an air press-feeding pipe 8. The pulp fibers after digestion having entered the screw barrel 1 are compressed and dehydrated as they progress to the discharge part 6 side because the screw shaft 4 is larger toward the discharge part 6. At this time, pressurized air ejects from the multiple holes 9 of the screw shaft 4, passes through the pulp fibers and escapes into the filter holes 10 of the screw barrel 1. The pulp fibers are prevented from turning together with the screw flights by the passage of the pressurized air in the pulp fibers and water content is discharged quickly to the outside.
