Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect the positioning of a paper stack having a different size positively at all times by a method wherein a partitioning plate is returned automatically to a predetermined position when the paper being used is exhausted in the paper containing device for a recopying machine or the like in which the positioning of the paper is effected by the partitioning plate movable in parallel with respect to the side plate thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The partitioning plate 4 is arranged movably in parallel with the side plate 3 integral with a bottom plate 1 and a latching projected piece 4c is formed at the fore end of the sliding plate 4a of the partitioning plate 4. The patitioning plate 4 is energized toward the side plate 3 direction by a spring 16 at all times and is positioned by a stopper member 17 on a pivoting shaft 18 engaging with the latching projected piece 4c. The pivoting shaft 18 is rotated through a pivoting plate 19 by the energizing of a solenoid 22 and the partitioning plate 4 is moved to a stopper piece 24 provided at a position corresponding to the paper of A4 size, for example, by releasing said engagement by the rotation of the shaft 18. The solenoid 22 produces the above-described condition by energizing for a predetermined time when a paper detecting means not shown in the diagram has detected the absence of the paper on the bottom plate 1 and thereby enabling to preclude the containment of the paper of B4 size.
