Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a non-dust-type pigment composition having improved dispersibility without using a surface active agent, and suitable as printing ink, paint, etc., by treating a pigment with a thermoplastic resin which can be made water- soluble by a basic substance, and spray-drying the treated product.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a water-containing slurry obtained by the synthesis of a phthalocyanine pigment, etc., is charged in a high-speed dispersing apparatus such as dissolver, and mixed with pref. 0.1W10wt% (based on the pigment) of a thermoplastic resin which is made water-soluble by a basic substance such as sodium hydroxide (pref. a resin which is solid at normal temperature, has a softening point of ≤200°C, and gives an aqueous solution having a viscosity of ≤5,000cps, e.g. styrene-maleic acid resin, etc.). The resultant slurry is spray-dried to obtain the objective composition.
EFFECT: There is no problem of environmental pollution, because the composition has high pigment content and can be used without crushing.
