Abstract
PURPOSE:To decide an in-focus state with high precision by performing operation, which corresponds to the forward and backward movements of a lens system by electric processing and by determining the position of the in-focus state. CONSTITUTION:Electric signals A' and B' are generated by the photosensitive parts 9 and 10 of an image sensor 6 respectively. The signals A' and B' for the (i)-th picture element are compared mutually and the resulting output is denoted as C0; and the signal A' for the (i)-th picture element and the signal B' for the (i-k)-th picture element are compared to obtain the output C-, and the signal A' for the (i)-th picture element and the signal B' for the (i+k)-th picture element are compared to obtain the output C+. In this case, the C0 is smallest in an in-focus state as shown by figure 62. When a lens 1 comes close to a main imaging surface 3 from a focusing state as shown by figure 61, the C0 increases and the C- is the smllest. In the opposite case, the C+ signal is smallest as shown by figure 63. Therefore, an in-focus state is decided precisely on the basis of the relation among the C0, C+ and C-.
