Abstract
PURPOSE: To break reduced cake to constant sizes inexpensively and surely by forming groove to metallic powder layers on the inlet side of a reducing furnace, holding reduced cake stock bodies of metallic powder under pressure, and applying pressurizing force for breaking to the end parts thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic powder layer supplied from a hopper 6 onto a steel belt 5 is formed with longitudinal and transverse grooves 14, 15 at prescribed intervals P1, P2 by a roller frame 10. At the time when the metallic powder 7 formed with grooves 14, 15 passes through the heating section 1A of a reducing furnace 1, it is reduced by heating to form the reduced cake stock body 7A of metallic powder, which is cooled to about room temp. through a cooling section 1D and is delivered to the outside of the furnace 1. Thereafter, when the delivered end part of the body 7A projects from a conveyor 2 by the length P2 between the transverse grooves 15, its root end side is held by the top surface of the belt 5 and a holding roller 17, and the leading end side in the projecting part is pushed and bent upward or downward by a pressurizing means 20 for breaking and is cut off in the respective groove parts 14, 15.
