Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively remove impurities in molten metal by attaching an agitating means to the lower end of a refractory pipe forming a fluxing gas path while leaving gap forming a gas chamber.
CONSTITUTION: An agitating means 2 composed of a cylindrical member 3 made of porous refractory, a disklike member 4 having a larger diameter and a vane member 5 is attached to the lower end of a refractory pipe 1 having a through hole for fluxing gas while leaving a gap forming a gas chamber 6. This apparatus is put in a pool of molten metal, and fluxing gas is fed to the gas chamber 6 from the pipe 1 while rotating the apparatus. This gas spouts from the micropores of the member 3 and the fine slit of the member 4 or 5, and it is agitated in the form of fine separate bubbles together with the molten metal. The bubbles disperse over a wide range and rise, and after effectively adsorbing impurities suspended in the molten metal, the bubbles float and are separated by dagassing.
