Abstract

PURPOSE: In a tape transfer apparatus having supply and take-up reels and buffers on supply and take-up sides, to shorten the tape transfer time by increasing or decreasing tape transfer speed depending upon a position of the tape in the buffer.
CONSTITUTION: A tape transfer apparatus includes supply and take-up reels 1, 2 driven by motors 3, 4, buffers 5, 6 positioned on supply and take-up sides and a tape feed mechanism 12. The buffers 5, 6 are provided with tape position sensors 15, 16, 17, 18 for detecting the least upper and lower limit positions of a tape loop, and tape loop position detecting circuits 7, 8, wherein the motors 3, 4 are controlled according to output of the circuits 7, 8. The output of each sensor 15W18 is sent to a tape feed control circuit 14 through a sense circuit 9. When the tape loop is positioned in the center of each buffer 5, 6, the feed mechanism 12 accelerates speed, and when the tape loop reaches the least upper or lower limit position, the feed mechanism 12 decreases speed.
