Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled disc having high density and low porosity, without using a metallic core plate, by forming the teeth engaging with a spline integrally with the ring-shaped main body from the sheet prepared by bonding natural pulp fibers with a thermosetting resin.
CONSTITUTION: Natural pulp fibers (e.g. wood) are used as a main material, and if necessary, mixed with synthetic organic fibers (e.g. phenolic resin fibers, etc.) and/or inorganic fibers (e.g. asbestos). The fibers are mixed with 4W100wt% of a water-soluble thermosetting synthetic resin (e.g. melamine resin) as a binder, and a large amount of water. A sheet is prepared from the mixed liquid, and is formed to a preformed body 110, which is hot-pressed with molds 12, 13 having cavities corresponding to the plane shape of the objective frictional engaging disc. The teeth to be engaged with the spline are formed to the inner or the outer circumference of the ring-shaped main body by this molding process,to obtain the objective disc.
