Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a compact-sized air conditioner capable to be loaded on a diesel railcar or other railroad cars by providing a switching damper on the partition wall part between an air-cooling chamber and a heating chamber continuously arranged. CONSTITUTION:For cooling, a compressor 14 is operated by the power of a main engine 7, and refrigerant 19 is sent to an evaporator 4 via a condenser 20 and an expansion valve 22. In a cooling chamber 5, a switching damper 24 provided on a partition wall 6 is set on the cooling side, and the air from a fan 27 is cooled and sent into a car via a blow-off port 28. For heating, the switching damper 24 is set to the heating side, and hot water from the main engine 7 is made to circulate through a radiator 2. In this construction, the use of the power and the heated and discharged cooling water of the main engine 7 disuses a separate generator. Besides, the cooling chamber 5 and the heating chamber 3 are constructed into a single unit 1 to be switched over by the damper 24 for obtaining a compact size.
