Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate nonuniformity of coating and obtain a coating film of uniform thickness over whole outer circumference of a tube by applying coating to the outer circumference of a tube in curtain-like or shower-like form and ironing with an ironing device having an opening that has a similar shape with the external form of the section of the tube.
CONSTITUTION: Coating is applied in curtain-like or shower-like form to the surface of outer circumference of a tube which is being carried in the lengthwise direction by a head provided with one or more discharge slotshaving adjustable opening, and coating is performed restraining pollution of working environment due to scattering of coating liquid. Next, the coated tube is passed through the opening of an ironing device 10 made up of a rubber elastic plate 12 provided with a specified opening 11 held between metallic plates 13 having openings. The film thickness is adjusted by ironing and the coated film is made uniform. This ironing devide is supported by a casing 14 through a buffer 16 to allow longitudinal and transversal movement to the frame 15. After making the coating film uniform, it is hardened by irradiation of ultraviolet rays.
