Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a printer that uses various types of printing mediums and can keep the space between a head and a piece of blank paper constant irrespective of the thickness of the paper, by coactively moving a guide shaft of a carriage with a pusher roller for delivering the paper.
CONSTITUTION: When the upper part of a second lever 11 is pulled toward an operator (to the left), a piece of blank paper 18 is inserted between the pusher roller 12 and a driving roller 17, and the lever 11 is returned the original position, the pusher roller 12 is separated away from the driving roller 17 by thickness of the paper 18, and the lever 11 is also displaced. Then a lever 10 forced against the lever 11 by a spring force, the guide shaft 4 secured to the lever 10 and the carriage 2 are also moved, so that the space between the head 1 and the paper 18 is kept constant. When a continuous piece of blank paper 19 is inserted, the pusher roller 9 is moved away from the platen by the thickness thereof, and in response to the rotation of the lever 10 the cam 8 is rotated to move the shaft 4 to the left.
