Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve finishing accuracy of the punched products and to prolong a service life of metal molds, by a method wherein a thrust depth of punches on a punching metal mold is accurately measured by using a thermoplastic sheet formed of such material as having a large rate of tensile breakage elongation. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic sheet formed of such material as having a large rate of tensile breakage elongation is placed on a die and a punching metal mold is lowered thereon. Then, a depth of thrust which has produced on the punched plastic sheet is measured so as to decide whether an amount of the thrust depth is proper or not. For example, a sheet 5 formed of polyprepylene, polyethylene or the like in a thickness of about 0.3mm. is placed on a die 6, and then a punching metal mold including a punch holder 1 to which a punch plate 3 equipped with punches 4 is rigidly mounted via a packing plate 2 is lowered toward the die 6. On this occasion, the thermoplastic sheet is not broken and a thrust depth 8 of the punches can be accurately measured after removing the sheet from the metal mold. Thus, it becomes possible to easily decide whether the measured dimension is adequate or not.
