Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a printer that is capable of lengthening the life of the ink ribbon by possessing a circuit that controls a mechanism to shift the position to use the stripe ribbon everytime the electric power is turned on or a ribbon feed motor or a printing type driving motor is started.
CONSTITUTION: A signal 23 to be sent to a control relay 22 for a load 21 is branched to set up further the time in which a relay 25 is kept turned on (a motor 17 is turned on) by means of a timer 24. The signal 23 controls a driving motor 17 for shifting the ribbon position, so that cams 15 and 15' rotate only for the time set by the timer 24, and a ribbon unit base 8 is moved with a shaft 13 as the fulcrum with the tip of the base 8 going up and down. The position to use the ribbon 3 is also shifted by this up-and-down motion.
