Abstract

PURPOSE: Meso-phased dope exhibiting an meso-phase characteristic without application of external hydrodynamic force and giving a fiber etc. with excellent dynamic performance, which is obtd. by mixing an acetoxymethylcellulose compd. with an aq. soln. of an inorg. acid.
CONSTITUTION: 10wt% or more acetoxymethylcelulose (acetate) of average degree of polymn. about 100W1,500 and sum of degree substitution of the acetoxymethyl and acetyl groups about 0.3W0.8, obtd. by dissolving a cellulose in a solvent and reacting it with acetic anhydride after introduction of a methylol group, is mixed with 90wt% or less aq. soln. contg. at least 5wt% one or more inorg. acid selected from a group consisting of nitric, hydrochloric, sulfonic, phosphoric, sulfurous, hypochlorous, thiosulfuric acid, etc. to prepare the purpose meso-phase dope which exhibits a meso- phase characteristic without application of any external hydrodynamic force.
