Abstract
PURPOSE: A composition composed of an aromatic polyamide polymer, an amide solvent and a halogenated hydrocarbon is subjected to dry-wet spinning under specific conditions to produce the titled fiber of high spinnability and quality by the use of inexpensive and safe solvents.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyamide composition composed of (a) a polymer P substantially containing structural units of aromatic polyamide such as m-phenyleneisophthalamide, (b) an amide solvent such as dimethylacetamide S, (c) a halogenated hydrocarbon such as dichloromethane H where each proportion comes within the range of quadrangle ACDF in the triangular coordinate, and (d) 5W60wt%, based on component P, of an alkali or alkaline earth halide is extruded from a spinneret whose temperature is set between the boiling point of component H and 50°C higher than the boiling point into the chimney kept to a temperature higher than the boiling point of component H and introduced an aqueous coagulation bath, thus producing the objective fiber.
