Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a device available for observation at high temperature and under high pressure by fitting an observation window, made of single-crystal corundum, to the wall body of a container for a test of a material under high temperature and highly pressurized water while aligning its optical axis to an axis C. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 containing high temperature and highly pressurized wate H is made of a material having good corrosion resistance and pressure tightness, and to its side wall, an observation window 2 made of single-crystal corundum is fitted with its optical axis aligned to an axis C. The upper and lower ends of a test-piece S are clamped with clamps 3 and 4 and through the upper clamp 3, a load applying mechanism 5 applies a low-speed tensile load. The external surface of the observation window 2 is irradiated with light from a light source 7 through a half-mirror 6 slanting at 450 to the optical axis and its image is projected on a VTR9 through a telecamera 8. Consequently, the inside of the test container in an atmosphere of high-temperature and highly pressurized water up to 300 deg.C and 150 atm is observed.
